About
Visualization of data can help us better understand the raw information. This site intends to help in visualizing abuses by those in government by collecting incidents and displaying them on a map as individual points and clusters and different graphs. Users of the site can submit incident reports through a web form, by email or using the hash tag govabuse in Twitter tweets. Incidents can include a description, coordinates, new sources, categories, videos and images. The primary map allows for filtering on the different media types as well as categories and by time.
Ushahidi, the open source platform on which this site is built, provides the ability for followers of the site to receive updates as incidents are added through a RSS feed as well as emails which are triggered by alerts set by users. For those who prefer Twitter you can follow us at @govabuse. There is a YouTube channel for videos which have yet to be uploaded there.
The raw data will be made available in different forms in the future.
